1. About Tiger Tots Program
What is Tiger Tots?
Tiger Tots is an American-style preschool program operated by TYPA for the international community in Taipei. The program is designed to provide a balanced approach between child-initiated learning and teacher-guided instruction, supporting children’s development across academic, social, emotional, and physical domains.
What educational philosophy does Tiger Tots follow?
Tiger Tots emphasizes a nurturing and collaborative learning community. Through an emergent, play-based curriculum, children are encouraged to explore, inquire, and develop independence while educators provide intentional guidance. Parent involvement and open communication are integral to our philosophy.
What curriculum does Tiger Tots follow?
Tiger Tots follows an American curriculum with an emergent, play-based approach. Children explore thematic units that promote academic readiness, social-emotional development, creativity, and independence.

Where is Tiger Tots located?
Tiger Tots operates on two campuses:
- Tiger Tots Place (Tian Yu Campus)
- Programs for Tiggers to Three-Year-Olds
- No. 26-1, Tian Yu Street, Taipei
- TYPA Campus (located on the TAS campus)
- Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Programs
- 2F, 800, Sec. 6, Zhongshan N. Road, Taipei
3. Eligibility & Enrollment
What ages are accepted?
Tiger Tots serves children from 18 months to 6 years old.
Who can apply?
Tiger Tots welcomes families from the international community. Our students come from a wide range of cultural and national backgrounds.
Are there age requirements for each program?
Children must meet the age requirement by September 1 of the school year they are applying for.
4. Programs Offered
What programs are available at Tiger Tots?
Pre-2s (Pre-Two-Year-Old) Tiggers Playgroup Program (Age 18 months~2)
Focus: Comfort, security, and positive first school experiences
2s (Two-Year-Old) Playgroup Program (Age 2~3)
Focus: Independence, social awareness, language, and physical development
3s (Three-Year-Old) Playgroup Program (Age 3~4)
Focus: Play-based, hands-on learning, creativity, and social skills
4s (Four-Year-Old) Pre-Kindergarten Program (Age 4~5)
Focus: Kindergarten readiness, foundational academics, arts, and emotional well-being
5s (Five-Year-Old) Kindergarten Program (Age 5~6)
Focus: North American curriculum standards, independence, and academic readiness
What is the student-to-teacher ratio?
Each class has 11~23 students with one lead teacher / one or two educational assistants.
How many days per week do children attend?
Tiggers & 2s: T/Th, M/W/F, or Mon – Fri (2, 3, or 5 days per week)
3s, Pre-k & Kindergarten: Monday through Friday (5 days per week)
What are the school hours?
Half-Day Program: 8:45 AM – 11:45 AM
Full-Day Program: 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
5. Faculty and Teaching Quality
What qualifications do the teachers have?
All teachers have relevant educational backgrounds or teaching experience and participate in ongoing professional development.
What language is used at Tiger Tots?
All instruction is conducted in English.
Is Mandarin offered?
Optional Mandarin enrichment classes are offered after regular school hours.
6. Application Process
How do families apply?
Parents must submit:
- Tiger Tots Application Form (Application Form)
- Tiger Tots Survey Form (Tiggers ~3s: Survey Form / Pre-Ks & Ks: Survey Form)
- If the child has previously attended another school, a separate academic or developmental report must be provided.
Application and Survey Forms can be downloaded from the TYPA website or collected from either campus.
Is there an application fee
No, there is no application fee.
Can families visit the campus?
- Personal Campus Tours (after application submission and confirmation of space availability)
- Annual Group Visitation, typically held at the end of March & will invite interested families around the end of February
7. Fees & Payment
What currency are the fees listed in?
All fees are listed in New Taiwan Dollars (NTD).
What are the registration and tuition fees? (2025–2026 School Year)
Registration Fee: NT$15,000 per semester
Half-day Program: NT$90,000 per semester
Full-day Program: NT$151,700 per semester
There are two semesters per school year.
When is tuition due?
Fall Semester: Full payment due by the end of May
Spring Semester: Full payment due upon registration in November
What payment methods are accepted?
Cash, bank transfer, and credit card (including overseas-issued cards).There is no credit card transaction fee.
Can we do registration online, or should we come in person?
Parents may scan and email all the papers to TYPA office (reg@typa.org.tw) by the registration date for registration.
8. Withdrawal & Refund Policy
Are tuition fees refundable?
No refunds or credits are issued after tuition due dates unless the family is leaving Taiwan. Missed school days, and absent from school are not refundable.
How do families withdraw from the program?
A written notice (Tiger Tots Withdrawal Form) must be submitted at least two weeks in advance.
The registration fee is non-refundable
Tuition is non-refundable after the due date unless the family is relocating out of Taiwan
When are families eligible for a prorated tuition refund?
Fall Semester: Before mid-October
Spring Semester: Before mid-March
Refunds are prorated based on the number of remaining weeks.
9. Meals & Pick-Up
Is transportation provided?
No, Tiger Tots does not provide transportation services.
Is lunch provided?
Yes, lunch is provided for full-day students to order.
Who is providing lunch?
- Tiger Tots Place: Provided by community vendors.
- TYPA Campus: Provided by Taipei American School Food Service.
- Parents may also send lunch from home.
10. Enrichment Classes
What are enrichment classes?
Enrichment classes are specialty programs focusing on specific skills or interests and are held after school.
What enrichment classes are offered?
Offerings include Hands-On Science, Inspired Artists, Kiddie Games & Sports, Little Builders, Little Chefs, Mandarin, Music & Movement, Number Magic, Phonics, Story Time, STEAM, and more.
Is pick-up provided for enrichment classes?
Yes. Tiger Tots students will be escorted from their classrooms to TYPA activities / Tiger Tots enrichment classes when scheduled.
What are drop-off and pick-up times?
Drop-off: 8:30–9:00 AM
Pick-up: Promptly at the end of the program day
If you are unable to pick up or drop off your child on time, please contact the TYPA office / Tiger Tots Place Front Desk, or your child’s teacher in advance.
11. Preschool Summer Camp
When is Tiger Tots Preschool Summer Camp?
Tiger Tots Preschool Summer Camp is typically held for 5 weeks from early June to mid-July.
Where is Tiger Tots Preschool Summer Camp?
There are two campuses.
- 2s & 3s Programs: Tiger Tots Place
- No. 26-1, Tian Yu Street, Taipei
- Pre-k & Kindergarten Programs: TYPA Campus
- No. 800, Sec. 6, Chung Shan North Road, Taipei
What activities are included?
Weekly themes, science experiments, cooking, arts and crafts, water play, dress-up days, and field trips (for ages 4–5).
What are the camp hours?
- Half-Day Camp: M-F 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
- Full-Day Camp: M-F 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
What is the cost of the Preschool Summer Camp? (2026)
- Registration Fee: NT$800
- Half-Day Camp: NT$8,250 per week
- Full-Day Camp: NT$16,500 per week
12. Administrative & Health Information
How do I obtain a TYPA Family ID?
Parents need to provide:
- TYPA Master Registration Form
- Kid’s foreign passport copy
Upon completion, TYPA will contact you to provide the Family ID.
Which passport should be submitted for dual citizens?
Please submit a foreign passport copy.
Do parents need to pay for accident insurance?
No. Accident insurance coverage is included for Tiger Tots regular students at no additional cost.
Are medical and immunization records required?
A doctor-issued medical check-up form and immunization record are sufficient. A Taiwan National Health Insurance yellow card is not required.
